Project LIFE is working in our region to build meaningful relationships to enhance the lives of our youth and assist them to develop permanent connections, by offering several resources and services for youth in foster care between the ages of 14 to 21 and youth adopted after the age of 16. Project LIFE, in the Northern Region, offers innovative opportunities for youth to learn, network, and grow. A few of these opportunities include, the Northern Region Youth Advisory Council (known to our youth as the Northern Advocates, Voices of Change), regional youth conferences, and ongoing Independent Living workshops. The Project LIFE team will also help youth prepare for their Family Partnership Meetings and identify resources for their needs. In addition, Project LIFE, provides training opportunities to professionals that work with our foster care youth in many different capacities, such as the Casey Life Skills Assessment, Overview of the Independent Living/ETV Program, and developing Youth/Adult Partnerships. Project LIFE is working to empower our youth, so that their voices are heard on new levels throughout our region and our state. If you have questions, desire any trainings (and being creative with trainings is always welcomed) or need some assistance with starting some local independent living workshops, please contact me; no land is too far whether it be in the big cities of Arlington and Alexandria or the rural areas of Louisa and Greene Counties, with all the other towns and cities in between! I am here to help provide you with information, resources, training, event planning, and other opportunities for youth success!
