Tom an accountant and TFC respite parent without any placements; connected with the Northern Virginia’s Project LIFE Independent Living Coordinator to look into opportunities to work with teens in the Project LIFE program. In addition to being an accountant, Tom has a tutoring services for youth in his area to educate them on math. Tom connected with UMFS to complete required trainings in order to become a mentor and shortly after was matched with William; a foster youth who finally became open to having a mentor. William was no longer receiving services due to being over the age of 21 years but continued to stay connected with Project LIFE. Now one month later, William and Tom on September 20th were able to mentor this mentoring journey together; and ironically their first goal was budgeting and money management.
