Youth Spotlight: Amber

August 1, 2018

Meet Amber. She is 15 and has been in foster care since she was 13 years old. Project LIFE recognizes Amber for the impact that she has made on the staff by serving in a key role at a recent event.

Amber and two other Project LIFE youth organized and assisted with a central region clothing drive for youth ages 14-21, that currently or in the past experienced homeless. She and the other youth invested time in organizing hundreds of clothing items. They also created artwork and merchandise to be sold at the event. At this youth-led event, the youth raised over three hundred dollars to be donated to Advocates for Richmond Youth, an organization that works with youth experiencing homeless and major life challenges. Amber displayed such empathy, initiative, and dedication throughout the service learning event.

To those in foster care, Amber wanted to share the following message: “Don’t let other people bring you down and be the change you want to be.” Amber, we are so proud of you and all you have accomplished. Continue to serve others and use your voice to impact youth in foster care!
