For youth 14 and up, in person at Roanoke City DSS: 1510 Williamson Rd. NE, Roanoke, VA.

Join Project LIFE for the first workshop of 2024 at the new and improved UMFS Lynchburg office on Wednesday February 21, 2024 starting at 5:30pm

Everyone should have access to healthy, nutritious food. The Virginia Family Nutrition Program encourages Virginians to eat smart by making healthy food lifestyle choices. Learn how to plan and cook healthy snacks and meals on a budget.

Shop with Project LIFE & Scott Anderson, retired Automotive Salesman, in an Automobile Purchasing Workshop to learn the basics of purchasing a vehicle. Youth will walk through what it takes to own your first car.  Be there, February 13, 2024, @ UMFS Auditorium from 6pm to 8pm.

Parenting Together

Not sure where to begin when it comes to taxes? That’s OK, it’s a lot! Let’s go over the what, why, who, when, and how of paying taxes.

United Way’s Tax Assistance Program offers free in-person tax preparation for families and individuals with income of $64,000 or less. Project LIFE will support youth by visiting a United Way tax site for 2024 tax preparation.
February 20, 2024, 1-5pm
Youth will meet with PLIFE staff and be transported to selected sites. Seats are limited! RSVP with T.Murphy @ tmurphy@umfs.org.

Interested in a Medical career?

Project LIFE Joins VCU Medical Student-led Foster Care Initiative, whose mission is to improve the safety and health of children in the foster system in Richmond, VA. Project LIFE & VCU medical students will host a career-based workshop addressing interest in healthcare and medical fields. Register ASAP with tmurphy@umfs.orgFebruary 22, 2024 @ 6pm to 8pm in the UMFS Campus auditorium.
